WoW Classic Blacksmithing Leveling Guide

This WoW Classic Blacksmithing leveling guide provides a cost-efficient path from skill 1 to 300. The route is calculated using estimated material costs together with each recipe's skill-up range, so it may continue using a cheaper recipe after it stops guaranteeing a skill point when doing so is expected to reduce the overall cost of leveling.

Items marked (keep) are required by a later step, so don't sell or discard them. Quantities marked with an asterisk are estimates because yellow and green recipes don't guarantee a skill point on every craft.

Blacksmithing Leveling Tips

Blacksmithing can consume large quantities of bars and stone, so material prices have a significant effect on the cheapest route to 300. Don't assume that the recipe requiring the fewest crafts is automatically the cheapest. A recipe that has already turned yellow can still be worthwhile when its materials are substantially cheaper than the alternatives.

Keep any intermediate materials identified by the guide. Blacksmithing frequently uses grinding stones made at earlier skill levels as reagents for later crafts. For example, this route keeps Coarse Grinding Stones and later uses them when crafting Patterned Bronze Bracers and Golden Rods.

Planning Your Materials

The later levels become considerably more material-intensive, particularly once the route reaches Mithril and Thorium recipes. If you're buying materials from the Auction House, check the quantities required by the later stages before starting rather than purchasing each step individually. Changes in bar, stone, leather and gem prices can make alternative recipes more economical.

Normal vs Aggressive Leveling

Enable Aggressive if you're willing to continue crafting recipes after their skill-up chance begins to fall when the estimated material savings justify the additional risk. The standard route is more conservative. Because these skill-ups are probabilistic, your actual material requirements can be slightly higher or lower than the quantities shown.
